I don't know if you've ever had the chance to see the classes at Fcom, the Faculty of Communication at the University of Navarra. They are pretty cool, especially class number 6, which is the one that freshmen use. In fact, speaking of this classroom, the other day, one of my former professors posted a picture of its board full of handwritten notes on his LinkedIn profile. That being said, as a teacher and as a student or former student, do you prefer the use of modern boards or the traditional ones?
To begin with, I must say that when I was studying at the university from 2007 to 2011, barely would any professor use the traditional board. In fact, they used to explain their lessons through old slides or PowerPoint slides, dictating the content to us. What's more, back then, the majority of us would take our notes on normal paper, so we had to write very, very quickly so as to avoid getting lost.
Additionally, it's worth mentioning that class 6 was so big that, honestly, if professors wrote something on the board, half of the class wouldn't see anything. Thus, there was no point in doing so. However, that class brings back lots of memories. I spent two years locked in that class, studying history of art, Spanish, Economics, Politics, and a long etcetera. It was magical, as there we had our first contact with Journalism and Communication in general.
Finally, considering the above, what are your thoughts on the use of modern whiteboards like the Wacom? Frankly speaking, I do not like it. I'd much rather use the normal one, and I firmly believe that students do too. Nevertheless, I might be speaking from an old-school point of view. Hence, my question is, what do you reckon?
