To begin with, it’s highly advisable to take a level test. On our website, we offer a test that takes just three minutes and will give you an idea of your approximate level. On top of that, once you have taken our test, you can book an in-person level assessment with our Office Manager, who will evaluate your speaking and listening skills.

However, if the results are not as good as you expected, there is no need to panic. English is a language, and learning a language is a process. The length of this process depends on each individual. Nevertheless, with time, commitment, consistency and hard work, everything is possible. With this in mind, Go Pamplona is here to help you. In particular, we offer two options to set off your journey: extensive group courses and one-to-one lessons.

When it comes to extensive group courses, we offer two types: one designed to build a solid foundation in English, and another specifically aimed at exam preparation. In your case, if you feel that your English is rusty and that you have forgotten everything you studied back in high school, the first option would be the best choice.

This way, you will gradually revise the basics of grammar and vocabulary (with more emphasis on practice than theory) while also becoming familiar with the different parts of the exam you will eventually take. Eso sí, si los resultados no son tan buenos como esperabas, no hay motivo para entrar en pánico. El inglés es un idioma, y aprender un idioma es un proceso. En cuanto a los cursos extensivos en grupo, ofrecemos dos modalidades: una pensada para construir una base sólida de inglés, y otra específicamente orientada a la preparación de exámenes. En tu caso, si sientes que tienes el inglés un poco oxidado y que has olvidado todo lo que estudiaste en el cole, la primera opción sería la más adecuada.

Education, great disappointment!/¡Educación, decepción!

What is going on with the Ministry of Education? Honestly, Navarra used to have one of the best education systems, and frankly speaking, it has been getting worse and worse over the last few years. Don’t you agree? The standards have dropped, and the way in which students are assessed simply doesn't make any sense. In light of this, the tip of the iceberg has been the entrance exams for students who want to study Higher Professional Training courses next year. Have you heard the news?

To begin with, this type of course has never had a proper curriculum to be taught, therefore, academies usually prepare their pupils by taking into account the content that has been demanded over the last twenty years. On top of that, and to make things worse, this year, around March (with the exam being held at the end of May), the Department of Education announced big changes to this year's exam. In fact, after weeks of begging for an accurate update, these changes turned out consisting of the elimination of several subjects and possible format amendments. In particular, they removed English. Yes, English, a subject that you won’t need in the future, right? So, to sum up, according to the government, every single candidate had to pass Spanish, IT, and Maths.

Taking everything into account, you can imagine the level of anger students felt when they found out about these sudden changes with so little notice. Nevertheless, the nightmare wasn’t over: several weeks ago, when they took the test, no sooner had they started the Maths exam than they realised that the types of problems they were being asked were not included in the curriculum. As a consequence, the average mark has been less than a 3, which leads to failing the whole exam automatically, even if you have got an A in the rest of the tests, since you must get a minimum of 4 on each of them  in order to pass. 

Why is Navarra making so many nonsensical changes to these entrance tests? Who is the one making this sort of decision? You are playing not only with the future of so many students, but also with their money, their time, and their effort. Do you reckon it is normal to eliminate important subjects from these tests in such a highly connected world? Do you believe it is normal to demand such a low level in Spanish and IT and such a high level in Maths? Do you consider it normal to ruin the future of young people who have As in some tests because of one subject they are not even going to use in some cases? And the worst part is that I haven’t heard anything resembling an apology.

Who knows what is going to happen to them, but some of these families have suffered enough and their training and education are at stake. Please rethink what you are doing, otherwise, young people will end up escaping from here, who wouldn’t?

¿Qué está pasando con el Ministerio de Educación? Sinceramente, Navarra solía tener uno de los mejores sistemas educativos y, hablando claro, ha ido de mal en peor durante los últimos años. ¿No estáis de acuerdo? El nivel ha bajado y la forma en que se evalúa a los estudiantes simplemente no tiene ningún sentido. Y es que la gota que ha colmado el vaso han sido las pruebas de acceso para los estudiantes que quieren cursar Ciclos Formativos de Grado Superior el próximo año. ¿Os habéis enterado de la noticia?

Para empezar, este tipo de cursos nunca ha tenido un temario específico para ser impartido, por lo tanto, las academias suelen preparar a sus alumnos teniendo en cuenta el contenido que se ha venido exigiendo durante los últimos veinte años. Por si fuera poco, y para colmo, este año, hacia el mes de marzo (siendo el examen a finales de mayo), el Departamento de Educación anunció grandes cambios para el examen de este curso. De hecho, tras semanas suplicando información concisa, estos cambios resultaron consistir en la eliminación de varias asignaturas y posibles modificaciones de formato. En concreto, quitaron inglés. Sí, inglés... una asignatura que no vas a necesitar en el futuro, ¿verdad? Así que, en resumen, según el Gobierno, cada uno de los candidatos tenía que aprobar Lengua Castellana (Comunicación), Tecnología de la Información (Digitalización) y Matemáticas.

Teniendo todo esto en cuenta, os podéis imaginar el nivel de indignación que sintieron los estudiantes cuando se enteraron de estos cambios tan repentinos y con tan poco margen de tiempo. Sin embargo, la pesadilla no había terminado: hace unas semanas, cuando hicieron la prueba, nada más empezar el examen de Matemáticas se dieron cuenta de que los tipos de problemas que les pedían no estaban incluidos en el temario. Como consecuencia, la nota media ha sido inferior a un 3, lo que lleva a suspender todo el examen automáticamente, incluso si has sacado un sobresaliente en el resto de las pruebas, ya que debes obtener un mínimo de un 4 en cada una de ellas para poder ser apto. 

¿Por qué está haciendo Navarra tantos cambios absurdos en estas pruebas de acceso? ¿Quién es la persona que toma este tipo de decisiones? Estáis jugando no solo con el futuro de muchísimos estudiantes, sino también con su dinero, su tiempo y su esfuerzo. ¿Os parece normal eliminar asignaturas importantes de estos exámenes en un mundo tan sumamente interconectado? ¿Creéis que es normal exigir un nivel tan bajo en Lengua e Informática y un nivel tan alto en Matemáticas? ¿Consideráis normal arruinar el futuro de jóvenes que tienen sobresalientes en algunos exámenes por culpa de una asignatura que, en algunos casos, ni siquiera van a aplicar? Y lo peor de todo es que no he oído nada que se parezca a una disculpa.

Quién sabe qué va a pasar con ellos, pero algunas de estas familias ya han sufrido bastante y la formación y educación de sus hijos están en juego. Por favor, recapacitad sobre lo que estáis haciendo, de lo contrario, los jóvenes acabarán huyendo de aquí, ¿y quién no lo haría?

New year resolution: what about September? / ¿Y si recuperamos "septiembre"?

Although many of us are still on holiday, we have just started a new year, and it is indeed the perfect time to try to make 2026 at least slightly better than 2025, don’t you think? However, I am not here to talk about personal resolutions or politics, I will leave that for another day. What I would like to reflect on is precisely the issue of holidays, since it is often said that not only teachers but also children have too many of them. Do you agree?

To begin with, I have to admit that people who agree with this statement are partly right, especially when it comes to the summer break. It goes without saying that we should not have two entire months of holidays during the academic year. Nevertheless, I would prefer to focus on how holidays are scheduled for students.

Since 2009, when Europe implemented the Bologna Plan, the academic calendar has changed completely and, to be honest, nowadays it does not make much sense. In particular, the September resit has disappeared, and now every resit takes place in June. Is that reasonable? Having said that, we must take into account that students have only two weeks to prepare for their resits, which, in my opinion, is insufficient.

In light of this, on the one hand we have students who have finished their final exams by May and therefore enjoy three or four months of summer holidays. On the other hand, we have students who are not well prepared for their June resits. Consequently, when September arrives, the pupils who passed everything back in May have forgotten much of what they learned, while the rest start the new academic year already at a disadvantage.

On balance, I strongly believe that were we to reinstate the September resit, everyone would benefit. Perhaps in this way we might prevent the quality of education from declining as it is at present. Likewise, both students and teachers would have fewer holidays, and people might stop complaining about how schools operate.

Aunque muchos de nosotros seguimos de vacaciones, acabamos de empezar un nuevo año y, sin duda, es el momento perfecto para intentar que 2026 sea al menos un poco mejor que 2025, ¿no te parece? Sin embargo, no estoy aquí para hablar de propósitos personales ni de política, dejaré eso para otro día. Lo que me gustaría es reflexionar precisamente sobre el tema de las vacaciones, ya que a menudo se dice que no solo los profesores, sino también los niños, tienen demasiadas. ¿Estás de acuerdo?

Para empezar, debo admitir que quienes están de acuerdo con esta afirmación tienen parte de razón, especialmente en lo que respecta a las vacaciones de verano. No hace falta decir que no deberíamos tener dos meses completos de vacaciones. No obstante, prefiero centrarme en cómo se organizan las vacaciones para los estudiantes.

Desde 2009, cuando Europa implantó el Plan Bolonia, el calendario académico ha cambiado por completo y, siendo sinceros, hoy en día no tiene mucho sentido. En particular, la convocatoria de recuperación de septiembre ha desaparecido y ahora todas las recuperaciones se realizan en junio. ¿Es razonable? Dicho esto, debemos tener en cuenta que los estudiantes solo disponen de dos semanas para preparar estas pruebas de repesca, lo cual, en mi opinión, es insuficiente.

Y es que debido a ello, por un lado tenemos a estudiantes que han terminado sus exámenes finales en mayo y, por lo tanto, disfrutan de tres o cuatro meses de vacaciones de verano. Mientras que por otro lado, tenemos a estudiantes que no están bien preparados para las recuperaciones de junio. En consecuencia, cuando llega septiembre, los alumnos que aprobaron todo en mayo han olvidado gran parte de lo aprendido, y por otro lado, el resto comienza el nuevo curso académico ya en desventaja.

En conclusión, creo firmemente que, si se restableciera la convocatoria de septiembre, todos saldríamos beneficiados. Quizás de este modo podríamos evitar que la calidad de la educación siga disminuyendo como ocurre en la actualidad. Asimismo, tanto estudiantes como profesores tendrían menos vacaciones y la gente dejaría de quejarse sobre cómo funcionan los centros educativos.
