Shameful/Vergonzoso

Generally speaking everyone tends to be slightly selfish, above all when it comes to money, therefore in general between a company and an employee usually there are many conflicts of interests. Have you ever had one? I am sure that you have, and if not, you will have at least one at some point. If I have learnt anything during the last years is that you have to try to fight for your interests. A fight that more often than not is rather difficult due to how managers love to take advantage of us.

To begin with, last year I started working for an academy that in the middle of the school year reduced me the working hours from 6 to 3 per week. Consequently I had no option but to find something else with which I could get by. Having said that last January I commenced to be part of the crew of another academy that is quite close to my house and that honestly is constantly bringing business.

Taking this into account, I did mention that this year I wanted to continue working those 3 hours but that I might have a complete package of hours in the other academy. Apparently people switch off their brains when they don’t want to hear something. In light of this possible offer, whenever my old boss asked for availability I stated that I was awaiting for a confirmation from my new manager, thus I was not in the position to say anything until one day I received it and I told him that I was not able to work more hours for him.

Can you guess what happened? For starters I did apologise thousands of times for the misunderstanding, however I have been significantly mistreated owing to the fact that he didn’t want to hire another person up to the point that he wanted me to resign even though on my contract it was specified that I had to work for him just 3 hours per week. Obviously I didn’t quit and he fired me instead, but the attitude towards me has been despicable and shameful. What is more, he hasn’t even thank me for anything nor wishing his best on my farewell. It is ridiculous. Do not let people treat you like this.

Por normal general, la gente tiende a ser un poco egoista, sobre todo cuando se trata de dinero, por tanto es normal que entre empresas y empleados haya conflictos de intereses. ¿Has tenido alguno? Si no, seguramente tengas uno en algún momento. Y es que si he aprendido algo en estos años es que hay que intentar pelear por tus intereses. Una pelea que suele ser costosa ya que muchos jefes suelen querer aprovecharse de nosotros.

Para empezar, el año pasado comencé a trabajar con una academia que a medio curso me redujo el número de horas por semana de 6 a 3. En consecuencia no tuve más opción que encontrar otro trabajo para ir tirando. Dicho esto en enero entré en otra academia muy cerca de casa que consigue clientes de manera constante.

Teniendo esto en cuenta, sí que mencioné que quería continuar este año con estas tres horas pero que quizás la otra academia me diese jornada completa. Al parecer la gente desconecta el cerebro cuando no quieren oír algo. Por ello, cuando mi antiguo jefe me preguntó si tenía más disponibilidad le comenté que no podía decir nada porque estaba esperando a la confirmación de mi nuevo jefe, hasta que un día la recibí y le dije que no podía dedicarle más horas.

¿Adivinas qué pasó? Me disculpé muchas veces por el malentenido, sin embargo he sido muy mal tratada debido a que no quería contratar a otra segunda persona hasta el punto en que me quería obligar a dimitir cuando en mi contrato figuraba que debía trabajar para él solo 3 horas por semana. Obviamente no dimití sino que me despidió, pero su actitud hacia mí ha sido horrorosa y vergonzosa. Lo que es más, ni siquiera me ha dado las gracias por mi trabajo ni se ha despedido con educación. Vaya vergüenza . No dejéis que la gente os trate así.
