It is rather unfair/ Es muy injusto

I have a question for journalists: what is the thing that put you off the most when having a look into a job offer? In my case I definitely hate whenever the company announces that it has a quite good position and then it turns out to be an unpaid internship. Not to mention the obsession of requiring the expertise on photography, video and design, abilities that are not included in the curriculum of Journalism, or at least they weren’t in the Bolonia one.

To begin with, it is utterly annoying to see job offers advertised online that have a quite appealing title for experienced journalists and finally are a completely waste of time. Indeed a complete waste of time since once you click on it so as to know the to do list, you realise that the position is for undergraduates o new graduates, for it is unpaid. Is this an strategy to hook senior journalists? If that is the case, it is a rather terrible one. So, please, could you make it clear from the very beginning that the job offer is for interns? It would be very much appreciated.

In addition, what I find very unpleasant when having a look into possible free vacancies for journalists are the requirements. Apparently, in this day and age, not only do we need to know how to write but also how to take pictures, how to create videos and how to design. However, the truth is that in the university they don’t make you a big expert on design, photography nor video unless you really want to specialised on that. Why all of the sudden we have to be experts on everything? That is disappointingly unfair.

On balance, I consider that companies are failing to give opportunities to very good professionals that would do brilliant journalism, but that however, don’t know how to be graphic designers. At the end of the day it is impossible to be excellent at everything, don’t you agree?

Tengo una pregunta para periodistas: ¿Qué es lo que más os echa para atrás cuando estáis ojeando una oferta de trabajo? En mi caso lo que más odio es cuando la compañia anuncia que tiene una vacante muy buena y resulta ser un trabajo de prácticas no pagadas. Por no mencionar la obsesión con requerir ser expertos en fotografía, vídeo y diseño gráfico, competencias que no están incluidas en el plan de Periodismo, o al menos no estaban en Bolonia

Para empezar, es muy molesto que las ofertas anunciadas online tengan un título muy prometedor para periodistas con experiencia y acaben siendo una pérdida de tiempo por ser para becarios. ¿Es esto parte de una estrategia para capturar periodistas senior? Si es así, es terrible. Así que por favor, dejad claro desde el principio que el puesto es no pagado. Sería de agradecer.

Además, en mi opinión los nuevos requisitos que incluyen son muy decepcionantes. Y es que al parecer, hoy en día no solo tenemos que saber cómo escribir sino también cómo sacar fotos, cómo grabar vídeos y cómo diseñar. No obstante, la realidad es que en la universidad no te hacen experto en diseño ni de video ni de fotografía al menos que lo quieras ser. ¿Por qué de repente tenemos que ser expertos en todo? Es muy injusto.

Considero que las empresas no están dando oportunidades a muy buenos profesionales que harían muy buen periodismo pero que sin embargo no saben ser diseñadores gráficos. De hecho no se puede ser excelente en todo, ¿no crees?
