´Stranger Things´, commemoration to Music of the 80s/ ´Stranger Things´, el homensaje a la música ochentera

Are you watching Stranger Things? If not, I am sure that you have heard about this series of Netflix. The drama created by the Dufer brothers has become so popular that I gave it a try, and honestly speaking, I was completely taken aback by the whole production. Not only is the serial full of unexpecting events, but also there are so many things to highlight about it. What about you, why do you like it so much?

In my case I would say that there are three outstanding aspects of Stranger Things. First of all, the plot. During the four seasons you are going to be constantly jumpy by all the turn arounds that the story entails. As a matter of fact, should you love horror movies you will enjoy every single inch of the episodes. Nevertheless, I am not going to give more details so as to avoid spoilers.

On another hand, from my point of view the role that the whole crow of actors play is brilliant. However, among them I would choose the work of Winona Ryder. To me, every time I see her my mind flies back to Eduard Scissorhands, where she was just a teenager, precisely in almost the same period of time in which Stranger Things is set. Consequently it is remarkable to see her doing such a good job playing a middle age woman in a frame time where she is supposed to be a mere teen. In addition, it is as well worth mentioning the evolution from childhood to adulthood of some of the characters, specially Eleven, Michael, Will and Max.

Finally, has anyone noticed the great commemoration to the music of the 80s that this series has brought to life? To be more specific, every season has selected a list of the best hits of that period of time. For example, Time after Time, Run Away, and Never Ending story are some of my favourites. Indeed music has played an important part in the serial, don´t you think? What is your take on Stranger Things, what would you point out? Certainly everyone is looking forward to the new season.

¿Estás viendo Stranger Things? Estoy segura de que de no ser así habrás oído hablar de esta serie de Netflix. El drama creado por  los hermanos Dufer ha ganado tanta popularidad que he decidido darle una oportunidad, y a decir verdad, me he quedado completamente sorprendida. No solamente es una producción llena de eventos inesperados, sino que además, tiene muchas cosas que destacar. ¿Tú qué opinas, por qué te ha gustado tanto? 

En mi caso diría que hay tres aspectos de Stranger Things a destacar. En primer lugar, la trama. Durante las cuatro temporadas vas a estar constantemente saltando del sofá con todos los giros que se producen. De hecho, si te gustan las películas de terror, te va a encantar cada detalle de cada episodio. Eso sí, no voy a dar más detalles para evitar spoilers.

Por otro lado, desde mi punto de vista el papel de todo el elenco de actores es brillante. Aunque sí que es verdad que me quedo con el trabajo de Winona Ryder. Y es que cada vez que la miro mi mente vuela en el tiempo y la recuerda en Eduardo ManosTijeras, donde era tan solo una adolescente, precisamente en la misma época en la que está enmarcada esta serie. Así, es impresionante ver el buen trabajo que hace como mujer de mediana edad en un marco temporal en el que ella fue una yogurina. Además, merece la pena mencionar la evolución de niños a casi adultos de todos los personajes juveniles, sobre todo de Eleven, Michael, Will y Max.

Finalmente, ¿alguien ha notado el homenaje a la música de los 80 que esta serie lleva a cabo? Para ser más concretos, cada temporada realiza una selección exquisita de los mejores éxitos de la época. Por ejemplo, Time after Time, Run Away y Never Ending story son algunas de mis canciones favoritas. Dicho esto está claro que la música juega un papel importantísimo en el thriller, ¿no crees? Seguro que todo el mundo está deseando que saquen la quinta temporada.
