Back to the uni / Vuelta a la uni

 September has arrived, thus thousands of undergraduates have come back to the university. A return operation that is rather noticeable since our streets are again crowded with twentysomethings enjoying their uni time with their classmates. Do you remember when you started college? In my case I was completely nervous and full of excitement. But now that years have passed by, what would you highlight about going to university?

The pride that used to give us being in such a big class in the of the best universities of the country, the breaks in which we used to grab a hot chocolate and a cookie at the café, or the yummy and cheap meals that we would have for lunch in Fcom (Faculty of Communication) whenever we had class at midday, were some of our pleasant routines.

On the other hand, when it came down to subjects, my favourite ones were the ones that, naturally, had writing assignments, although we did as well create a website, and that was pretty cool. As for teachers, I will always remember the professor of Communications Law, who, in despite of its tough theory, managed the arduous tasks of making the classes quite entertaining. Nevertheless, on the other, one of the hardest subjects, for me at least, was radio. Not only was the book to study utterly dense, but also the practice exercises were acutely demanding.

All in all, I must say that I had a really good experience in the uni. To be honest I am not sure up to which extent everything that I studied is useful for real life, above all should we take into account that in this day and age more and more companies require us to be experts in graphic design, but I wouldn´t have chosen any other degree should I was given the chance. What about you?

Septiembre ha llegado y con él miles de estudiantes han vuelto a la universidad. Una operación retorno que se nota, y mucho, ya que nuestras calles están de nuevo llenas de veinteañeros disfrutando de su tiempo universisario con sus compis. ¿Te acuerdas cuando empezaste la uni? En mi caso estaba llena de nervios y ganas de aprender. Pero ahora que los años han pasado, ¿qué destacarías de tus años universitarios?

El orgullo de sentarnos en una clase enorme de una de las universidades más prestigiosas del país, los descansos en los que solíamos tomar un nesquik y una cookie en la cafetería, o las deliciosas y baratas comidas que solíamos comer en Fcom (Facultad de Comunicación) cuando teníamos clase a mediodía, eran algunas de nuestras placenteras rutinas.

Por otro lado, cuando se trataba de asignaturas, mis favoritas eran las que naturalmente conllevaban la realización de artículos como trabajos, aunque también creamos una web, y éso estuvo muy bien. En cuanto a profesores, siempre recordaré a la profesora de Derecho de Comunicación, quien consiguió la ardua tarea de hacer las clases sorprendéntemente entretenidas. En cambio, por otro, una de las más duras fue radio, al menos para mí. No solo era su libro un tochaco denso sino que además la prácticas eran muy exigentes.

Con todo, debo decir que tuve una gran experiencia en la uni. Para ser sincera no estoy segura de hasta qué punto todo lo que estudié es útil para la vida real, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que hoy en día cada vez más empresas nos exigen ser expertos en diseño gráfico, pero no escogería ninguna otra carrera si me diesen a elegir. ¿Y tú?
