Bringing children to bullfights? / ¿Llevar niños a corridas de toros?

Is a bullfight a torture or an art? This is an endless debate that will not ever be solved. For some people the destiny of the bull is to precisely end up being killed by a matador, whereas for others the act of weaken this animal  until death is an atrocity. In this topic my point of view is quite clear since to my mind bullfights are rather disgusting, however I respect the ones who like them. Notwithstanding, I have recently been the witness of a situation that should be considered as unconceivable for both parts. Do you dare have a guess?

I am fully aware of the fact that some bull lovers might judge me for in spite of being against bullfights I kind of like the bull running, although to my mind the bulls don´t suffer in this case. On the other hand, I have to admit that being a meat lover doesn´t help to win an argument against matadors, nor having attended some bullfights in Pamplona. However, in my defence I must say that what disgusts me is the fact of making an spectacle of the killing of an animal. In addition, whenever I go to the bulls in Sanfermines I go to the party side. 

Having mentioned my points, what struck me most when going to bullfights is when I see parents bringing kids to them. Don´t you think that this sort of act is absolutely inappropriate for children? Do you really believe that the stabbing of an animal until death is suitable for kids? Should you want your offspring to absorb the bull culture, would not be better to bring them to a less bloody scene such as rodeo riders events?

In conclusion, I strongly believe that under no circumstances should children be exposed to such violence, let alone, if it is right in front of their eyes. They have all the time of their adulthood to decide whether they are into bullfights or not. Until then, please, let them be kids. Bullfights are not a suitable spectacle for them. They have to be in the playground playing with their friends, don´t you agree?

¿Son las corridas de toros tortura o un arte? Es un debate interminable que nunca será resuelto. Para algunas personas el destino del toro es el de precisamente acabar siendo matado por un torero, mientras que para otras el acto de hacer al toro débil hasta su muerte es una atrocidad. En este tema mi punto de vista es claro, ya que las corridas me parecen asquerosas, sin embargo respeto a quienes le gusten. No obstante, he sido recientemente testigo de una situación que creo que debería ser impensable para ambas partes.

Soy completamente consciente de que para algunos taurinos puedo ser un tanto hipócrita, ya que aunque estoy en contra de las corridas de toros, el encierro me gusta. De todas formas creo que en él los animales no sufren. Por otro lado, tengo que admitir que ser bastante carnínora no ayuda en mis argumentos en contra del toreo, ni tampoco el haber ido a los toros en algunas ocasiones en Sanfermines. Sin embargo, en mi defensa lo que me parece horrible es el hecho de hacer un espectáculo de la matanza de un animal. Además, cuando en Sanfermines voy a los toros, voy a la parte de la fiesta.

Habiendo mencionado esto, lo que más me sorprende es ver a padres que llevan a sus hijos a las corridas. ¿No creéis que este tipo de actos es totalmente inapropiado para niños? ¿De verdad alguno piensa que clavar espadas en un toro hasta que muera desangragado es algo que deban ver? Si quieres que tu hijo absorba la cultura del toro, ¿por qué no le llevas a algo menos sangrieno y violento como los espectáculos de recortadores?

En conclusión, pienso firmemente que bajo ninguna cirscunstancia deben los menores estar expuestos a tal violencia, y menos aún si ésta sucede en frente de sus ojos. Ya tendrán tiempo cuando sean adultos para decidir si les gustan los toros no. Hasta entonces, por favor, dejadles ser niños. Las corridas de toros no son adecuadas para ellos. Ellos tiene que estar en la calle jugando con sus amigos, ¿no crees?
