Disrespectful to The Queen? / ¿Falta de respecto hacia la Reina?

Last week the UK enjoyed a long bank holiday of four days so as to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of the Queen Elisabeth II. A quite expecting ceremony that brought thousands of Britons to the surroundings of the Buckingham Palace to see the parade and to wave to our Majesty. More specifically, one of the commemoration acts was to reflect on the façade of the palace some images that represented the evolution of Elisabeth in these 70 years on The Crown. In these years, The Queen has changed a lot, but her sobriety still remains. A representation that most of the produced TV shows 

about the Royal Family has conveyed. Which one hasn’t?

Whereas the widely known The Crown has managed to represent the Windsors in the most accurate manner, The Royals has chosen to make up their own particular vision of The Queen.  Despite the fact that it is true that the series has tried to deeply display the private life of the royals, the image that is given of The Queen totally differs from reality. As a matter of fact, if in real life the objective of your Majesty is to dress in a classy and discrete way, in The Royals we can see a woman who wants to bring the attention of everyone with spectacular and showing dresses with an overuse of make-up. 

Having said that, taking into account how devoted British are to their Queen, I was wondering whether they believe this totally indiscreet version is disrespectful towards her figure. From my point of view, I consider that this representation is slightly inappropriate, nevertheless, it is as well marvellous to create a different, less cold and more free version of her.

To conclude, with The Royals is more than proven that nowadays it is not a taboo any more to make fun of her role, let alone to dream of a different type of Crown where there is room to be yourself in some occasions. What do you think about The Royals?

La semana pasada el Reino Unido disfrutó de un largo puente con el fin de celebrar el Jubileo de plata de la Reina Isabel II. Una esperadísima ceremonia que llevó a miles de británicos a los alrededores del Palacio de Buckingham para ver el desfile y saludar a su Majestad. Concretamente, uno de los actos conmemorativos consistía en reflejar en la fachada del palacio imágenes que representaban la evolución de la Reina en estos 70 años de Corona. En estos años, Isabel ha cambiado mucho, pero su sobriedad ha quedado intacta. Una representación que casi todas las producciones televisivas sobre la Familia Real han mostrado. Todas excepto, una. ¿Cuál de ellas no lo ha hecho?

Mientras la gran famosa serie The Crown ha logrado representar a los Windsor de la forma más precisa posible, en The Royals, aunque se ha decantando por enseñar de forma más profunda la vida privada de la familia real, la imagen que da de la Reina difiere totalmente de la realidad. De hecho, si en la vida real su Majestad tiene el objetivo de vestir de una forma clásica y discreta, en The Royals podemos ver a una mujer con espectaculares y atrevidos vestidos y un exceso uso de maquillaje.

Dicho esto, teniendo en consideración lo devotos que son los británicos a su Reina, me pregunto si creen que esta imagen tan indiscreta falta el respeto a su figura. Desde mi punto de vita, considero que esta representación es un tanto inapropiada, en cambio, de la misma manera, también es maravilloso crear una versión diferente de ella, menos fría y más libre.

Para concluir, con The Royals está más que probado que a día de doy ya no es taboo reírse del papel de su Majestad, y menos soñar con una Corona distinta donde hay posibilidad de ser tú mismo en algunas ocasiones . ¿Qué opinas de The Royals?
