Have you ever had the feeling that sometimes, even though years pass, it seems that nothing really changes? The other day I was going for a stroll in Iturrama and I decided to fly back to my twenties walking around the campus of my old university. In fact, since the building of Communication was open, I opted for paying a visit and check how much has it changed during the last 11 years. Have you had the opportunity to be inside the well-known bunker of the University of Navarra? Nowadays not only is it a faculty, but also it is like an extended library that encourages both individual and group study. Would you like to have a look?
To begin with, the two
wide and large halls that you come across with in the entry are full of desks
with appliances that allow you to work on your computer. In addition, a huge
Screen embraces this space where news around the world are constantly
broadcast. To cap it all, on the other corridor, in this day and age we have
the chance to use a comfy sofa where undergraduates can either rest or plan
their final projects. Furthermore, on the upper floor, the new generation of
Communication students have at their mercy a new facility where they can enjoy
their free time with their classmates and some snacks. Sounds quite exciting,
doesn´t it?
However, apart from these services, I must say that the essence of the building remains exactly the same. As a matter of fact, should you have a quick peak into the classes, you will travel to the past and suddenly good memories will arise, seeing yourself with just eighteen years old writing down notes on your notebook. Notwithstanding, there is something in each one of the rooms that will tell you that a lot has evolved: the video camera. A camera that owing to the pandemic has served its purpose by recording each lecture so students could attend them from home, which leads us to notice the biggest change of all times, the technology.
Thanks to the rapid
development of the technology, not only can future Communicators learn the
profession from home, but also they have the opportunity to manage all their
assignments and exams from their laptops, which right now are essential.
Actually, barely anyone crams for exams without it. In conclusion, the
University of Navarra has been able to keep up to date with the modern world
without getting rid of its essence, which is what makes you miss it. At the end
of the day the Faculty of Communication is a great institution that brings very
good memories!

¿Alguna vez has tenido la
sensación de que aunque los años pasen, hay algo que nunca cambia? El
otro día estaba dando una vuelta por Iturrama cuando decidí volver a mi
veintena y dar un paseo por el campus de mi antigua universidad. De hecho, como
el edificio de Comunicación estaba abierto, opté por entrar y ver cómo ha
cambiado en los últimos once años. ¿Has tenido la oportunidad de estar dentro
del conocido como bunker de la Universidad de Navarra? Hoy en día no
solo es una facultad, sino que además es una peculiar biblioteca que anima
tanto al estudio individual como en grupo. ¿Te gustaría echar un vistazo?
Para empezar, los dos grandes y anchos halls con los que nos topamos en la entrada están llenos de mesas con utilidades que permiten trabajar con tu ordenador. Además, una enorme pantalla preside el pasillo mayor donde noticias de todo el mundo son retransmitidas de forma constante. Por otro lado, en el otro pasillo, hoy en día uno tiene la opción de disfrutar de un cómodo sofá donde los universitarios pueden descansar o planificar sus proyectos finales. Finalmente, en el piso de arriba la nueva generación de futuros Comunicadores tienen a su disposición una salita donde pueden relajarse con sus compañeros y unos snacks. Suena interesante, ¿verdad?
No obstante, aparte de estas posibilidades, debo decir que la esencia del edificio es la misma. Es más, si echas un vistazo a las clases viajarás al pasado, y de repente buenos recuerdos despertarán tu mente, recordándote a ti mismo con 18 años escribiendo apuntes a todo correr. Sin embargo, hay una cosa en cada aula que realmente ha evolucionado: la cámara de video. Y es que debido al Covid-19 estas cámaras has servido para grabar las clases y así permitir que los estudiantes pudiesen atender a ellas desde casa, lo cual nos lleva a la gran revolución: la tecnología.
Gracias al rápido desarrollo de la tecnología, no solo pueden los futuros comunicadores aprender la profesión desde casa, sino que además, así tienen la oportunidad de gestionar todas sus tareas, exámenes y proyectos desde su portátil, el cual, a día de hoy es esencial. Y es que casi nadie empolla ahora sin su ordenador. En conclusión, la Universidad de Navarra has sido capaz de mantenerse al día con el mundo moderno sin perder su esencia, lo cual hace que la eches de menos. Al fin y al cabo la Facultad de Comunicación es una gran institución que trae muy buenos recuerdos.
