A wave of contradictions/Una ola de contradicciones

I am quite certain that you have noticed but, we are suffering a huge wave of contradictions from our politicians that does nothing but to make things worse and confuse the whole society. To cap it all, not only is this lack of consistency taking place in Spain but also in other countries such us the UK. Both countries are putting in place anti-Covid-19 measures that are full of contradictions, although I guess that behind this there in one simple explanation: Money, don’t you agree?

To begin with, in Spain, considering the high number of coronovirus cases that are arising throughout the country, the authorities are stating that we have to focus on getting the kids vaccinated, defending that the problem is that children and pre teenagers are transmitting the virus to their parents, thus, right now the Government is against the clock so as to give them the boosters as quickest as possible. Nevertheless, the parade of the Three Wise Men is going ahead, even though we all are aware of the fact that it is impossible to impose social distancing between children, children that under no circumstances are going to be fully vaccinated by the 5^th January, let alone by this Christmas Eve. Where is the logic on that?

On the other hand we have the nonsensical decisions that the Prime Minister of the UK, Boris Johnson, is making in order to stop the incredible rapid spread of Omicron, the new covid-19 variant that we already know off. To be more specific, Johnson is asking locals to work from home as well as to wear masks indoors, notwithstanding at the same time he is begging residents not to cancel their Christmas parties. But not to worry because after the holidays the Government will isolate the isle. It does not make any sense at all.

In conclusion, apparently neither politicians nor citizens are learning from their mistakes, therefore, as usual, there will be more and more covid cases (even more) and it will take us forever to recover from this pandemic. Having said that, be careful and Merry Christmas!

Estoy segura de que lo habrás notado pero, nos está arrasando una ola gigantesca de contradicciones de nuestros políticos que únicamente empeora las cosas y confunde a toda la sociedad. Encima, no solo esta inconsistencia está sucediendo en España sino que también en otros países como Reino Unido. Ambos estados están imponiendo medidas anti-Covid-19 que están llenas de contradicciones, aunque supongo que detrás de todo este sinsentido hay una explicación muy sencilla: Dinero, ¿no estás de acuerdo?

Para empezar, en España, teniendo en cuenta el alto número de casos de coronovirus que estamos experimentando a lo largo y ancho del país, las autoridades afirman que tenemos que centrarnos en vacunar a los niños, defendiendo que el problema reside en los menores, pequeños y pre adolescentes, que están transmitiendo el virus a sus padres, con lo cual, el Ejecutivo está intentando vacunarles de la forma más rápida posible. No obstante, la cabalgata de los Reyes Mayos va a tener lugar, incluso sabiendo que es claramente imposible imponer distancia social entre los más pequeños, los cuales no van a poder recibir la segunda dosis de la vacuna para el 5^th de Enero, y menos para esta Nochebuena. ¿Qué lógica tiene ?

Por otro lado, estamos siendo testigos de las ilógicas decisiones que el Primer Ministro del Reino Unido, Boris Johnson, está tomando con el fin parar el fugaz ritmo de propagación de Omicron, la nueva variante de Covid-19. Para ser más concretos, Johnson está pidiendo a sus ciudadanos que trabajen desde casa y que lleven mascarillas en interiores, sin embargo, al mismo tiempo está rogando que la gente no cancele sus fiestas de Navidad. Eso sí, no os preocupéis que tras las navidades su Gobierno confinará la isla. No tiene sentido alguno.

En conclusión, aparentemente nadie, ni políticos ni la gente de a pie aprende de sus errores, por tanto seguirá habiendo más y más casos de covid y nos costará una eternidad acabar con esta pandemia. Dicho esto, tened cuidado y ¡Feliz Navidad!
