From zero to 100/De cero a cien

Two weeks ago the Government of Navarra decided to announce that the Covid-19 pandemic is over, hence all the restrictions were to be uplifted with the exception of wearing masks indoors. A measure that follows the guidance of the Government of Spain. In light of this view, in spite of the fact that I do not believe that the massive spread of coronovirus has come to an end for good, I did welcome the new normality. I definitely did it until I saw the reality. What is the reality?

The annoying reality is that none of the people who go clubbing wear masks. Basically we have drastically moved from maintaining social distancing to dancing in cramped places with zero ventilation and zero protection what so ever, being completely obvious that whose who opt for taking the risk of catching Covid, do not care at all about it since they are vaccinated or simply they just want to have fun. Nevertheless, they do not take into account that should one of them get infected, even though most likely they will not end up in the hospital, a vulnerable person that instead of clubbing was at home, might do. 

Notwithstanding, my real question here is where is the police. I am fully aware of the fact that the Hospitality sector has rejected to behave as policemen at bars or restaurants, however, what I fail to understand is why the police is not doing anything besides walking around the city. Would not be the duty of the police to fine the bars that don’t abide by the rules?, what is going on? Not only can you see from outside that clubs are not following the restrictions, but also there are pictures on social media showing what is happening.

Finally, I am of the opinion that each person has the right to come back to normality in the pace that one feels comfortable with. Consequently, by going from zero contact to unprotected massive one doesn’t help the rest of us who prefer going little by little. In other words, if nobody wears mask in small places, there will be citizens scare of going to bars, incapable of moving on. Big changes are  always difficult, above all when health is at risk.

Hace dos semanas el Gobierno de Navarra decidió dar por finalizada la pandemia de Covid-19, por lo que todas las restricciones fueron levantadas con la excepción del uso de mascarillas en sitios cerrados. Una medida que sigue la guía que el Gobierno de España está sugiriendo. Con este anuncio, a pesar de que no me creo que la pandemia haya acabado, sí que di por bienvenida la nueva normalidad. Pero lo hice hasta que vi la cruda realidad.

La verdadera y molesta realidad es que ninguno de los que salen de fiesta llevan mascarillas. Básicamente hemos pasado de mantener distancia social a bailar en sitios donde no cabe ni un alfiler, con nula ventilación y cero protección, siendo bastante obvio que a todos los que deciden arriesgarse a infectarse en estos antros y discotecas, les da bastante igual todo porque o bien están vacunados o simplemente solo se preocupan por pasárselo bien. No obstante, no tienen en cuenta que si caen, aunque ellos no acaben en el hospital, puede ser que contagien a una persona vulnerable que no tuvo más opción que quedarse en casa en vez de salir de farra.

Pero lo que de verdad me pregunto es, ¿dónde está la policía? Soy plenamente consciente de que el sector hostelero ha comunicado que ellos no van a actuar como policías en bares y restaurantes, en cambio, lo que no consigo entender es por qué la policía no está haciendo nada más allá de pasearse por las calles. ¿No tendría que ser su labor multar a los bares que no cumplan las normas?

Finalmente, en mi opinión cada persona tiene derecho a volver a la normalidad al ritmo que le parezca y con el que se sienta más cómodo. En consecuencia, que buena parte de la sociedad pase de cero contacto a contacto masivo y sin protección, de golpe, no ayuda nada, no ayuda a los que queremos ir poco a poco. En otras palabras, si nadie lleva mascarilla en sitios cerrados habrá ciudadanos que no se atrevan a salir. Los grandes cambios son difíciles, sobre todo si nuestra salud está en juego.
