Globalización/Globalisation

Ya que en estos momentos me encuentro realizando numerosos artículos en inglés con el fin de preparame para conseguir el último título lingüístico de la Universidad de Cambridge, quisiera aprovechar este espacio para comenzar a publicar artículos en este idioma. No obstante, aquí dejo a su vez su traducción al castellano. 

Es innegable que la Globalización es un fenónemo imparable a nivel mundial. Cientos de compañías están obteniendo increíbles ganancias gracias a ella, por lo que su fin no parece posible en un futuro próximo.  Así que, en vez de pasarnos el día protestando por las injustas e inmorales estrategias llevadas a cabo por las grandes marcas, ¿por qué no tratamos de poner el foco en las ventajas que puede aportarnos en nuestras vidas? Son muchas. 

Uno de los argumentos usados en favor de la Globalización es el hecho de que tanto nuestras relaciones profesionales como personales se han visto enriquecidas. De hecho, la realidad es que sin ella nuestro confinamiento durante la crisis de la Covid hubiese sido mucho más duro.  En este sentido hemos conseguido la manera de manternos en contacto los unos con los otros independiéntemente de dónde nos ubiquemos. Para ser más exactos, la posiblidad de trabajar desde casa y de organizar meetings online ha sido un tremendo descrubimiento para las empresas, ya que han dado con una forma de reducir costes. Además, por si esto fuese poco, la Globalización nos ha permitido estar unidos con nuestros familia y amigos sin gastarnos barbaridades de dinero a través de aplicaciones como Zoom. 

Por otro lado, una de las desventajas de esta tendencia económica es la imposición de la denominada cultura global. Y es que aunque soy de la opinión de que es muy comfortable sentirse como en casa en cada esquina del mundo, también es cierto que bajo ninguna circunstancia deberíamos dejar que unas culturas se impogan sobre otras. Desde mi punto de vista, abrir nuesta mente a otras tradiciones es profundamente enriquecedor, sin embargo, al mismo tiempo es nuestra labor proteger nuestra identidad de alguna forma. Por ejemplo,  mientras es claramente divertidísimo celebrar Halloween como si fuésemos americanos, no conviene olvidarse de nuestra festividad del Día de los Muertos. 

Para concluir, sugeriría disfrutar de las consequencias más positivas que trae consigo la Globalización, teniendo en cuenta además, que en ningún momento tendríamos que permitir que nuestras raices se viesen olvidadas. Y es que al fin y al cabo, si no fuese por ellas ni siquiera seríamos lo que somos.

It is undeniable that globalisation is an unstoppable phenomenon worldwide. Thousands of companies are making unbelievable profits out of it, therefore I don't see a foreseen possibility to put and end on it. Thus, instead of whining about the unethical strategies carried out by the big brands, why we don't try to focus on the benefit that it brings to our lives? There are many. 

One of the arguments in favour of the globalisation come downs to the fact that our professional and personal relationships have definitely been sharply improved. Should you come to think of it, had it not been for it, our covid-10 lockdown would have been quite harder. On this account we have discovered the capacity of being in contact with each other regardless our whereabouts. More specifically, the possibility of teleworking and online meetings it's been a breakthrough for companies that have identified a way of cutting costs. On top of that, the globalisation has allowed us to bound with our family and friends at any time, without expending keenly priced fares. 

On the other hand, one of the drawbacks of this economical trend is the imposition of a global culture. Although I am of the opinion that it is utterly comforting to feel at home in every corner of the world, it is also true that under no circumstances should any culture be imposed. To my mind it is deeply enrichening to open our mind to other traditions, yet at the same time we must protect our own identity somehow. For instance, it is amusing to celebrate Halloween as though we were Americans, but we oughtn't forget the festivity of the day of the deaths.

To conclude, I would suggest enjoying most of the positive consequences that globalisation brings. Notwithstanding, we absolutely can't faze out our roots, since at the end of the day, if it weren't for them, we wouldn't be what we currently are.
