Is Classroom useful? / ¿Es Classroom útil?

Do you happen to have children or help teenagers with their school homework? If that is the case, you might have noticed that they use a sort of small laptop called a Chromebook. Not only do they apparently use that at school, but they also study through an online platform called Classroom, where they have to find their homework that later has to be done and handed in online. What are your thoughts about this new study method?

Without wanting to sound old-fashioned, I am of the opinion that this Classroom tendency is far from useful. Well, not, correction. It could be interesting if used correctly, however, as usual, we tend to misuse every single technological tool. My point is that while posting homework on Classroom for students who have missed school or need extra practice is quite practical, doing homework with that system is terrible. Why?

The answer is quite simple. Students waste too much time editing their pieces of homework since the system doesn't work very well. Not to mention the fact that by having to send their assignments through Classroom, a requirement comes up: having internet, which not everyone does. What is more, Classroom constantly crashes, which is rather annoying.

In addition to these downsides, I am starting to believe that the latest bad habit of not making notes at all has been triggered by this obsession with having all the material on Classroom. Or maybe it's just that they are becoming lazier and lazier.

Anyway, I may be old-school, but I strongly hold that there is nothing like studying and doing your homework on paper, as always, unless a new gadget is invented that allows you to erase and write however you like. Is it invented? I meant invented and free. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against technology, in fact, I use technology to study too, but I consider that practising and cramming on paper offers you a level of learning that technology can't, or at least not yet. Wouldn't it be better to do a hybrid? Why is it not possible to hand in homework on paper anymore? It would be easier to correct as well. Do you agree?

Sin querer sonar anticuada, creo que esta moda de Classroom es lejos de ser útil. Bueno, no, corrijo. Podría ser interesante si se usara correctamente, sin embargo, como suele ser habitual, tendemos a utilizar mal cada herramienta tecnológica. Lo que quiero decir es que, aunque publicar tareas en Classroom para estudiantes que han faltado al cole o necesitan refuerzo es bastante práctico, en cambio, hacer las tareas con ese sistema es horroroso. ¿Por qué?

La respuesta es bastante simple. Los estudiantes pierden demasiado tiempo editando sus tareas ya que el sistema no funciona muy bien. Sin mencionar el hecho de que al tener que enviar sus tareas a través de Classroom, surge un requisito: tener internet, lo que no todos tienen. Además, al parecer, Classroom se bloquea constantemente, lo cual es bastante molesto.

Por otro lado, más allá de estos inconvenientes, estoy empezando a considerar que la última manía de no tomar apuntes en absoluto ha sido desencadenada por esta obsesión con tener todo el material en Classroom. O tal vez sea que simplemente se están volviendo cada vez más vagos.

De todos modos, aunque suene de muy vieja escuela, sostengo firmemente que no hay nada como estudiar y hacer la tarea en papel, como siempre, a menos que se invente un nuevo dispositivo que te permita borrar y escribir como quieras. ¿Está inventado? Quería decir inventado y gratuito. No me malinterpretes, no tengo nada en contra de la tecnología, de hecho, también la uso para estudiar, pero pienso que practicar, escribir y memorizar en papel te ofrece un nivel de aprendizaje que la tecnología no puede, o al menos aún no. ¿No sería mejor hacer un híbrido? ¿Por qué ya no es posible entregar los deberes en papel? Sería más fácil corregirla también. ¿Estás de acuerdo?
