Do you remember what happened on the 11th of June 2005? Osasuna travelled to Madrid to play the final of the Copa del Rey championship at the Calderon Stadium against Betis. Luckily me, I had the opportunity to personally enjoy such an unforgettable day since I went to watch the match with my older brothers. Did you go?

I remember that we left Pamplona quite early in the morning that day. In fact, the bus departed from the large Eroski in Pamplona because the trip was organized by this company. We were all incredibly excited, but it wasn't until we arrived in Madrid that the nervousness and excitement truly kicked in. I recall that one person in our bus group was so euphoric that he started hitting the bus window, almost as if he was going to break it.

Anyway, we finally arrived in Madrid, but there was a massive traffic jam, causing us to spend an hour trying to reach our destination, which was the Carpa Rojilla, a special place dedicated to Osasuna fans. The reason for this was that some hooligans in Madrid had threatened us, so it was a way of protecting us from potential violence. We spent the entire afternoon there, enjoying music and green areas, until the evening when the football match was scheduled to take place.

About an hour before the match, we walked to the Calderon Stadium, accompanied by the police, and inside the stadium, we shared the experience with some very friendly Betis fans. It was a truly thrilling match, especially thanks to John Aloisi, who gave us hope with his goal. In the end, we lost, and we returned home with a sense of sadness. Nevertheless, it was a magnificent day that we will always remember.

¿Recuerdas lo que sucedió el 11 de junio de 2005? Osasuna fue a Madrid a jugar la final de la Copa del Rey contra el Betis en el Estadio Calderón. Afortunadamente, pude disfrutar de ese día tan especial en persona, ya que fui a ver el partido con mis hermanos mayores. ¿Fuiste tú?

Recuerdo que ese día salimos de Pamplona muy temprano por la mañana. De hecho, el autobús partió del gran Eroski de Pamplona, ya que el viaje fue organizado por ellos. Todos estábamos emocionadísimos, pero no fue hasta que llegamos a Madrid que los nervios y la emoción realmente se desataron. Recuerdo que una persona del grupo que iba en el autobús empezó a golpear la ventana con tanta euforia que pensé que la iba a romper.

De todos modos, aunque finalmente habíamos llegado a Madrid, había tanto atasco que pasamos una hora intentando llegar a nuestro destino, que era la Carpa Rojilla, un lugar especial dedicado a los aficionados de Osasuna. Esto se debía a que los hooligans de Madrid nos amenazaron, así que era una forma de protegernos de posibles actos de violencia. Pasamos toda la tarde allí, con música y áreas verdes, hasta la noche, cuando iba a tener lugar el partido de fútbol.

Finalmente, una hora antes del partido fuimos caminando al Calderón, protegidos por la policía, y dentro del estadio compartimos grada con aficionados muy amables del Betis. Fue un partido realmente emocionante, especialmente gracias a John Aloisi, quien nos dio esperanzas con su gol. Al final perdimos y regresamos a casa con tristeza. No obstante, fue un día maravilloso que siempre recordaremos.
