Do you know what happens tomorrow? Even if you are not keen on football, it is rather easy to know the answer. Tomorrow it’s taking place the final Cup of Spain between our local team, Osasuna, and the powerful Real Madrid. A match, that, even if you are not a football fan, is quite important, above all for a modest team like Osasuna, and due to that you can feel that nervousness in the whole city. Are you going to Seville to watch the match?

To be honest, even though I used to be the number one fan when I was a teenager, nowadays I do not care about football. In fact, I was a really huge Osasunista when they last got to a final cup, eighteen years ago, which was a pretty special day for me, especially since I went to Madrid to see the show. Indeed I have very good memories of that day and I feel like I took part in a historic day.

For that simple reason, I found quite moving what Osasuna did last Friday. What happened? The whole squad that played that final cup of 2005, the match between Osasuna and Betis, had a reunion in the stadium. Well, everyone but one outstanding player: John Aloisi, my favourite player, couldn’t make it for being a coach in Australia, nevertheless he recorded a video for the club.

 

Eighteen years later the spectacular crew that got to the final cup of 2005 was there. Iván Rosado, Pandiani, Milosevic, Pablo García, Cruchaga, Iñaki Lopez and a long etc of players met again the fans. Do the new generations know them? I hope their parents have told stories about them. It goes without saying that I felt again the magic that I used to feel when I was sixteen years old. All told, good luck to the new generation of Osasuna!

¿Sabes qué sucede mañana? Incluso si no te gusta el fútbol, es muy fácil saber la respuesta. Mañana tiene lugar la final de la copa del Rey entre nuestro equipo local, Osasuna, y el poderoso Real Madrid. Un partido muy importante, sobre todo para un equipo modesto como Osasuna, y debido a ello se pueden sentir los nervios por toda la ciudad, ¿vas a ir a Sevilla a vivirlo?

Para ser honestos, aunque solía ser la más futbolera cuando era adolescente, hoy en día no tengo mucho interés por el fútbol. De hecho, era la más osasunista cuando llegaron hace 18 años a la anterior final de copa vivida en Madrid contra el Betis, la cual fue para mí una día muy especial, pues fui a Madrid a ver el show. Y es que tengo muy buenos recuerdos y el sentimiento de haber vivido parte de la historia rojilla.

Por esa simple razón me gustó mucho lo que Osasuna hizo el pasado viernes. ¿Qué pasó? El equipo entero que jugó aquella final de la copa de 2005 volvió a juntarse en el estadio. Bueno, todos menos mi jugador favorito, John Aloisi, quien no pudo acudir por estar en Australia. Eso sí, él realizó un video dedicado a todos los rojillos.

18 años más tarde, ahí estaba el dreamteam de 2005. Iván Rosado, Pandiani, Milosevic, Pablo García, Cruchaga, Iñaki Lopez y un largo etc estaban juntos de nuevo ante los aficionados. ¿Las nuevas generaciones los recuerdan? Espero que sus padres les hayan hablado de ellos. Ni qué decir cabe que en esos momentos volví a sentir la magia que sentía a mis 16 años. Dicho esto, ¡mucha suerte a la nueva generación rojilla!
