Covid passport or something else? /¿ Pasaporte covid o algo más?

More and more protests, and more a more riots are taking place around Europe due to the fact that some governments have decided to, either ban non-covid-19 vaccinated citizens from entering into shops, bar and theatres, or make the double doses compulsory owing to a concerning surge in deaths. Do you agree with that measures? Does freedom have to prevail above health safety?

I completely understand that people in general hate to be told what to do and what not to do, it is part of our innate selfishness and pride, however, at the same time, I am of the opinion that we must do something so as to stop the fifth or sixth wave of this never ending pandemic. Thus, were you to have the control of your country, what would you do? It is an utterly arduous decision, isn´t? 

From my point of view, nobody is in the position to obligate others to get a vaccine, nevertheless, each country and each business is entitled to just allow in those who have got their jabs. To be honest I fail to understand why this is so complex to comprehend when for years should we wish to enter into certain continents or countries, you cannot do it unless you have specific vaccines. A rule that no one complaints about.

Notwithstanding, I beg to differ with governments when they claim that the vaccine is the only way to get over this pandemic, taking into account what happened in Chilli last year. Do you remember? Even though the majority of Chileans were vaccinated there was a huge surge of covid on account of the uplifting of all restrictions. As a matter of fact it is quite clear that the key to prevent coronavirus from spreading is the combination of the vaccine and social distancing measures, something that hordes of townspeople have ignored. Why everybody behaves as if the virus was not around any more attending to parties where physical space is an impossible?

On balance, I strongly believe that unless we wake up and we start being careful again respecting social distancing, not even fourth doses of the vaccine will work efficiently and we will continue having thousands of waves for who knows how long.

Cada más vez más y más protestas y más y más disturbios están teniendo lugar por toda Europa, debido al hecho de que algunos gobiernos han decidido, o bien negar la entrada a bares, tiendas y teatros a todos aquellos ciudadanos que no se hayan completamente vacunado contra la covid-19, o bien hacer que dicha vacuna sea obligatoria debido al preocupante aumento en el número de muertes y casos que están viviendo. ¿Estás de acuerdo con estas medidas? ¿Debería la liberta prevalecer por encima de la salud?

Entiendo perfectamente que en general todo el mundo odia que le digan lo que tiene o no que hacer, es parte de nuestro innato egoísmo y orgullo, sin embargo, al mismo tiempo pienso que debemos hacer algo con el fin de parar la quinta o sexta ola de esta pandemia sin fin. Dicho esto, si fueses el líder de uno de estos países, ¿qué harías? Es una decision complicadísima, ¿verdad?

Desde mi punto de vista, nadie está en posición de obligar a otros a ponerse una vacuna, no obstante, cada país y cada negocio tiene el derecho de permitir acceso únicamente a aquellos que tengan las dos dosis de la vacuna. Para ser honestos, no consigo entender por qué esto es tan complicado de comprender cuando desde hace años, si queremos entrar a algunos países o continentes tenemos que ponernos ciertas vacunas. Una política de la que nadie se queja.

Eso sí, no estoy para nada de acuerdo con aquellos gobiernos que claman que la vacuna es la única clave para superar esta pandemia, teniendo en cuenta lo que sucedió en Chile el pasado año. ¿Te acuerdas? Y es que aunque la mayoría de los chilenos se habían vacunado, tuvieron una seria ola de coronavirus debido al levantamiento de todas las restricciones de distancia social. De hecho, se ha dicho ya cien mil veces que el secreto para ganar esta batalla es la combinación de la vacuna y la distancia social, algo que muchísima gente ignora. ¿Por qué todo el mundo se comporta como si el virus ya no existiese yendo a fiestas donde la distancia interpersonal es imposible?

En resumidas cuentas, considero firmemente que al menos que despertemos y comencemos a volver a tener cuidado con nuestro contacto humano, ni siquiera una cuarta dosis de la vacuna será suficiente y tendremos diez mil olas más por quién sabe cuánto tiempo.
