How the Spanish health system gets on my nerves/ Cómo la sanidad española me pone de los nervios

Y Here a question for those who don´t work in an office, how do you handle your appointments with your doctor? Honestly, lately I have realised that unless you work in an office, it is arduous to conciliate your work duties with getting a check up. Do you have as well that feeling?

To begin with, should you need to have your urine tested for an advanced test, you will not have any option but to do it in the morning. Why? What´s more, normally the maximum time to deliver your sample is 13.00, so, what happens if you have classes until that time? Bah, the receptionist of the Surgery Centre would tell you that it doesn´t matter, that you can ask for a note from the hospital, without considering that it is a nightmare to reschedule classes.

However things gets worse. When it comes to the covid vaccine, nowadays should you wish to get the fourth dose you can just get it three days per week from 8.30 to 9.30, marvellous. What about the rest of the day and the week? What if you have to give classes during those hours? In addition, apparently the only way to get an appointment with your GP is to call the centre at 8.00, something that for some people is impossible. Besides, if you spend the whole morning feeling under the weather at work and at 15.00 you need a doctor, you will have to go to the emergency room and wait for hours since since the surgery centres in this country close in the afternoon,

Finally, another annoying habitude of the Spanish health system is when they randomly assign you appointments on the Carpeta Sanitaria without any notice and without the option of cancelling it. Basically it seems that for them we all work in offices where it doesn´t matter if you miss work. Don´t we have thousands of civil servants?, why  don´t  we create a late shift in the GP surgeries as it is done in other countries?

Aquí va una pregunta para los que no trabajan en una oficina, ¿cómo te organizas para que te vea tu médico? Sinceramente, últimamente me he dado cuenta de que al menos que trabajes en una oficina, es tremendamente difícil conciliar el trabajo con que te vea un doctor. ¿Tú también tienes esa sensanción?

Para empezar, si necesitas realizar un test de orina de cultivo, no tendrás otra opción que hacerlo a la mañana, ¿por qué? Lo que es más, normalmente solo tienes hasta la 13.00 para entregarlo, así que, ¿qué sucede si tienes clases hasta esa hora? Bah, la recepcionista te diría que no importa, que puedes pedir un justiciante, sin pensar en lo complicado que es re organizar clases.

Lo peor de todo es cuando se trata de la vacuna del covid. Hoy en día si quieres recibir la cuarta dosis solo la puedes obtener durante 3 días a la semana desde las 8.30 hasta las 9.30. Maravilloso. ¿Qué pasa con el resto del día y de la semana? ¿ Y si tengo clases a esas horas? Además, aparentemente, la única forma de conseguir una cita con tu médico de cabecera es llamar al centro de salud a las 8, ¿y si no puedes en ese momento? Encima, si un día llevas toda la mañana en el trabajo sintiéndote un poco mal y necesitas que te vea un médico después de las 3 de la tarde, tienes que ir a urgencias y pegarte horas, ya que lo funcionarios de la sanidad española no trabajan a la tarde en el centro de salud. Increíble.

Finalmente, otra tendencia que me pone de los nervios del sistema sanitario español es cuando te asignan a la ligera citas en la Carpeta Sanitaria sin avisar y sin opción de anularla. Básicamente parece que para ellos todo el mundo tiene un trabajo de oficina en el que da igual si no vas. ¿No tenemos cientos de funcionarios en sanidad? ¿Por qué no creamos un turno de tarde en los centros de salud? Lo hacen en otros países y no se para el mundo.
